Arrival of UN-Backed Troops in Haiti
Please Pray!!
The UN-Authorized Gang Suppression Force (GSF) has an initial 12-month mandate and is expected to grow to 5,500 personnel by midsummer. Unlike the previous Kenya-led mission, the GSF is empowered to make arrests, not just support local police. Their mission is to help stabilize the country, and counter gang control. Because of the current violence more than 1.3 million people have been displaced, and the humanitarian situation remains severe. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE GSF!! This week we heard of a gang attack on the mountain village of Bedoranj, not far from the village of Seguin that I spoke of in my last letter. They stole much livestock (pigs, cows, mules), burned houses, killed some, and caused chaos throughout the village. Also, gang leaders have sent spies into our city of Jacmel to spy it out before making an attack. When residents discover these spies, they stone them and machete them to death. PLEASE PRAY FOR HOSANNA MINISTRIES!
“To give light to those who sit in darkness . . .
To guide our feet unto the way of peace.” (Luke 1:79)
Preparations continue to be made for Camp Bossier by the Sea – from July 6-31. Young people come to us from all walks of life. One year we asked them to anonymously share some of the things they struggle with. They shared such things as lying, stealing, alcohol, smoking, and pornography, involvement in voodoo, fornication, homosexuality, and secret sins. The following testimonies demonstrate the power of God’s Word to change lives, and the eternal value of camp in a young person’s life.
- “I thank God for His grace that led me to this camp. My life has changed. I was on a bad path. Now I am walking with God on a good path. I thank all the pastors and counselors.”
- “My father’s immorality influenced me to sleep around though I was only 15. I played hooky from school to be with girls. By age 17, I landed in prison. A pastor who knew my problems arranged my release and brought me to Camp Bossier where I met Christ as my Savior, and my life has started to change. Please pray for me to grow in Christ.”
- “Though totally disinterested in Camp Bossier, my sister talked me into going. With disgust, I prepared my suitcase. The instant I attended my first chapel service, I felt a change about to happen in me. I had accepted Christ months earlier, but had no idea how to live my life. I have learned so much about the Christian life at this camp.”
Please consider one or more scholarships of $60 each as an investment into a life.
Prayer Warriors, Tom and I can’t say enough “thank-you’s” to you for your many, many years of faithfulness! Your loyalty has been phenomenal. May God’s blessings cover you always! What I have shared above is breaking our hearts. We desperately need your prayers for the camp’s safety from the gangs. We are so concerned. If the gangs move into Jacmel we may lose Hosanna Ministries!! We need so much prayer!!
With Gratitude to God for you,
Tom and Sarah Bennett
